How much our dental patients saved in Poland?

Below there are just a few written reviews from our other patients. You can read more feedback and watch other videos on dentist review section.

“I saved nearly £15,000”

I was quoted over £20,000 for dentistry in the UK compared to the £5200 i ended up paying with yourselves in Krakow. The price was outstanding and the first thing that attracted me to your clinic in the beginning. Could not believe the saving that was quoted to me, and had to investigate further and pay a visit to the clinic. Was not disappointed. Would like to thank you all once again for my experiance which is life changing for me and will always remember it

“It cost me less than a half”

I needed extensive dental work doing that would have cost upwards of 6000 pounds in the UK. My first dental trip to Krakow was for a consultation. I arrived at the clinic and was greeted warmly by the kind staff, and I also noticed (much to my surprise) that the facilites, clinic itself and equipment were much more modern looking than anything I’d seen in England. I informed the Dr of the treatment I wanted, and he immediately told me it was possible, and provided me with a quote minutes later; contrary to the UK where I was constantly told of the complexity of the procedures I needed, referred to multiple different dentists, and quoted ridiculous costs. My treatment required 3 more visits over the next few months, and I couldn’t have been happier with the level of service and more importantly the outcome of the treatment I received. It cost me less than half of what I would have otherwise paid in the UK, and received what I believe would have been better results. Also, the PA side of things was immaculate – I changed appointments several times and each request was met with warm efficiency. The whole process could not have gone smoother, and I would strongly advise anyone who can’t afford the ridiculous cost of dentistry in the UK, to conisder using this company.

“Professional and cheap”

Overall, we found the dentists at the surgery and all connected with your Company to be fully up to date with all modern technology (far more so than English Dentistry in our opinion) and the standard was definitely much better, even though the cost was considerably lower. Back home, my wife was quoted £2,500.00 to have two new crowns fitted (these would probably have been the crowns with the metal inserts). In Poland she had 6 fully porcelain crowns fitted, route canal treatment and cleaning, all for £2750.00. I had 8 fillings and full cleaning done for £340.00 and the last time I had one filling at a Dentist in England, it cost me £90.00.

“Great service for affordable price”

All my work was £3,100.00. My husband had an extraction, 3 dental crowns and a porcelain bridge and that was £780.00. I had 14 porcelain crowns and 2 bridges and my teeth look fantastic. The price was great but the dentists are wonderful, caring and dedicated. The whole of the staff were friendly and kind. We couldn’t fault the dental practice.

Case study: £8000 savings on porcelain crowns in our clinic in Krakow

Thomas had 2 teeth missing and two options were available to him: either to restore his smile using implants or with porcelain crowns fused together in a bridge. He chose the second option, and also decided to carry out some other dental work he needed at the same time. Our dentists fitted him with 6 PROCERA crowns (by many regarded as the world’s best) in the top and another 4 in the bottom jaw at a total cost of £4000. The same amount of dental work based on identical materials would have cost him at least £12000 in England.

Case study: £6900 savings on implant bridge with Polish My Smile

Before Andrew came to Poland to have his treatment done, he was wearing a denture which was both unstable and uncomfortable. Andrew had many missing teeth and the best solution for him was to have a restoration on implants (implantology guaranteed the stability and strength for his teeth). Our dentists inserted 4 implants in his jaw and rebuilt his teeth on an 8 unit bridge. We used fully porcelain crowns for the best aesthetic results. Andrew visited Poland 3 times to have his new set of teeth fitted, and the total cost was £5,100. Similar solutions in the UK start from £12,000 (based on the same, high quality materials that we have used). Pictures depict the whole process of Andrew’s treatment, from insertion of implants, to placing the abutments, bridging and permanently attaching the 8 unit bridge to the implants.

UK to Poland genuine dental price comparison

Below are examples of real cost savings that our patients have made by having a dental treatments done in our clinics in Krakow. In order to prove the amount they have actually saved, we also included the copy of original treatment plans those patients had received from their local dentists in the UK prior to having the treatment with us. For privacy reasons, we have hidden the name of the patients and the clinic details. Under each UK treatment plan, we included the costs patients have paid in our clinics for exactly the same dental procedures.

Price comparison 1

This patient spoke to a cosmetic dentist based in the UK about standard porcelain crowns. The UK dentist charged £800 for the same treatment which costs just £190 in our Krakow clinic. Even fully-ceramic Procera crowns, regarded as some of the best crowns available by dentists, would have cost less than half what the standard crown would have cost in the UK.

The work was completed for the patient during two short trips. She was so pleased with the results of her treatment, as well as the massive savings, that she allowed us to use a copy of her original UK treatment plan on our website.

Original quote from the UK dentist:

Comparison with our quote with savings that he made

Price comparison 2

The quotation shown below was generated for the placement of three dental implants as well as a six-unit bridge on the top set of teeth. The quote was provided by a UK clinic, totaling between £9,500 and £13,000 depending on the laboratory which was chosen. This quote is for standard porcelain crowns only, and no CT scan was given prior to the quote being provided.

The patient approached our clinic for a quote for the very same work. The same placement of three implants and an identical six-unit bridge came to £3,800 in total, representing savings of more than £5,000 on these standard crowns. We also compared our price for the highest-quality, full-porcelain crowns and discovered the cost in our clinic would be less than £5,000, allowing the patient to save over £8,000 on the cost of the work in the UK.

The treatment plan showed no indication that a bone graft was required, meaning the work could be completed over three short trips. The travel and accommodation expenses were predicted to be just £500 in total.

Beat the soaring costs of dental treatment

As the cost of dental treatment in the UK, keeps on soaring there is now another affordable option – travel to Poland. Back in 2011, the Daily Telegraph ran a story about the increasing numbers of people seeking treatment abroad, especially for dental work and cosmetic dentistry. With recent funding changes in the NHS, it seems that this issue of affordability in the UK will be compounded further with various agencies and consumer organisations suggesting that the incidents of people travelling to Poland for their dental treatment will increase dramatically.

The same story, over and over again...

Dental implants - growing in popularity but expensive in the UK; could travelling to Poland be the answer?

A patient recently complained about the amount they were paying for a simple dental check-up. It seems that two minutes in the chair, a quick oral examination and an obligatory x-ray in some areas of the UK can cost just short of £100.

In fact, research by the respected consumer organisation ‘Which?’ back in 2010 and 2011 suggests that this fee can vary considerably from one area of the UK to another; some patients will pay as ‘little’ as £45, others up to £124.

The impact of charging such fees is now beginning to tell, it seems, on the health and state of the nation’s teeth. With the effects of the recent recessions still fresh in people’s minds, it is no wonder that people are choosing not to go to the dentist for the usual check-up.

Back in the glory days of free NHS dental care, everyone, it seemed, went for a 6 monthly check-up. Looking back, these days now seem hallucinogenic as official figures from 2009, had already revealed that barely half the population – a meagre 52.5% – had visited the dentist in the previous 2 years.

Tesco, although a well-known supermarket, also commission research and in 2009, they revealed the results of their dental survey and found that 42% of people also put off essential dental work and treatment as a direct result of the cost involved.

Action to be taken

As a result of this, and the ongoing saga of dental fees in the UK, there are powerful agencies getting involved; there are investigations past and present that suggest the fees being charged for both NHS and private dental work are unfair – and we are charging the highest fees in Europe. But wherever there are losers, someone gains and it seems that in this case, the dental practices in Europe are reaping the rewards.

There are many countries with great health systems, who can offer the same treatments, to the same high standards and one of those countries is Poland. Krakow is a fine city that has lived through the turbulence of World War II and, since its inception into the European Union in 2004 has been able to offer great dental services to people from many countries – and the British have started to take advantage.

But, there are always problems... or are there?

dental treatments in the past
Modern day dentistry has developed beyond all imagination from the very early days...

As the terms ‘medical tourism’ and ‘dental holidays’ were coined, many people worried about the quality of the service on offer as well as the quality of the equipment and chemicals etc., spooked possibly in recent years by the breast implant scandal.

But it seems there is a way forward. Package companies like us, offer British customers seeking dental treatment – including a whole heap of cosmetic dentistry – a way to access English speaking dentists, offering brilliant dental treatment, at a fraction of the cost you would pay here in the UK.

The British Dental Association, back in 2008, suggest that the regulation of dental practices and treatments in the EU is not as strictly regulated as those in the UK, but this does not seem to be stopping an estimated 70,000 people per year seeking and finding dental treatment in Poland.

‘Which?’ also found that the average price of the crown in the UK could cost anything from £250 – £518 but in Krakow, the second largest and oldest city in Poland, the same crown would cost £160.

As a UK based dental travel operator, we can get the ball rolling on your behalf, with a great package deal to seek the dental treatment you need, whilst taking in the delights of some of the most striking, eclectic mix of architecture in Europe, found only on the streets of Krakow. Dental treatments

Are you considering using dentists abroad for cosmetic dental treatment? Depending on the extent of the work you want/need to be completed, the savings can be huge.

As is the case with a lot of dental procedures, the bill is scarier than the trip to the dentist itself. Our service aims to reduce the costs of dental treatments while providing patients with the most professional, internationally accredited dentists abroad, experienced in performing a range of dental procedures.

Contrary to popular belief, the standards of care overseas are incredibly high. Of course, this depends on the country you choose to see a dentist. In developed countries, the savings on cosmetic dentistry abroad is due to the lower cost of living and not because the dentists lack modern equipment, technology or experience.

In developing nations, the standard of care may not be as high, nor have the regulatory oversight to provide assurances and ensure there are hygiene control practices in place, ensuring a clinically sterile environment for dental procedures to be carried out with minimal risk of infection.

Developed countries, such as Poland, where our clinic is based in Krakow have high clinical standards and robust safeguards in place to ensure the quality of treatment is of the highest standards.

It’s estimated that half of the medical tourism industry is dominated by dental tourism. Patients are choosing to cross borders for cheaper dental procedures abroad including for, veneers, dental bridges, tooth implants, crowns, orthodontic care and even root canal treatment, benefit from cheaper dental care with a high quality of care.

For some patients, the option to use dentists abroad isn’t really a choice, but rather a necessity. Unlike other NHS services which can be free, NHS dentistry is not, and there are waiting times too. Unless you’re choosing to use a private dental practice, you’ll need to wait in line for treatment.

The costs of NHS dental treatments in the UK

NHS dental fees span three bands. A band one treatment is (currently) £22.70 (+£1.10 in 2019) and that only covers an examination, an x-ray, diagnosis and advice. Band two treatments are the first band up for dental treatments covering fillings and tooth extractions. It should be noted that NHS fillings are amalgam fillings. Porcelain and ceramic fillings, which last longer, are not covered by the NHS. In 2019, band two dental treatments rose £3, bringing the cost per treatment to £62.10. Dental crowns and false teeth fall into a band three tariff, which rose by £12.80 in 2019, now costing £269.30. Prices are based for costs in England. Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have different costs, and patients can contribute up to 80% of the cost of treatment.

For those who want to bypass waiting times and opt for private dental care, the prices will be higher, sometimes significantly. Take for example a root canal treatment, which is a band two on the NHS costing £62.10; privately you could be paying upwards of £900. Using a private dental clinic abroad, such as our practice in Krakow, Poland, our patients typically save 75% on the cost of root canal treatments. Further savings are made when patients require multi-root canal treatment animation.

Overall, across all our treatments provided by our dentists abroad, our patients save between 50% to 60% on all cosmetic dental treatments provided, after accounting for airfares, transport costs, hotel stays and the small amount of tourism tax that may apply, as is the case with a lot of European destinations.

The vast majority of patients considering seeing a dentist abroad are concerned with the quality of care and rightly so because follow up assistance needs considered. Patients choosing any package from Polish My Smile have the full assurance of our dental guarantee, which varies from two to five years for veneers and bridges with up to a ten-year guarantee on our superior quality dental implants.

The team at Polish My Smile have over a decade’s experience in assisting (mainly) British people to access quality dentistry care on a dental holiday in Poland while assisting with travel arrangements, accommodation, and making the most of your trip to the City of Krakow.
